The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has rejected threats by US President Donald Trump against the nation, describing him as one of the main killers of Iranians.
Ali Larijani was reacting to a Tuesday social media post by Trump calling on the rioters to “take over your institutions” and that “help is on its way.”
Trump also demanded that the rioters “save the names of the killers and abusers” and threatened that “they will pay a big price”.
He has repeatedly voiced support for the rioting and threatened Iran with military strikes if what he terms as “peaceful protesters” are shot and killed.
“We declare the names of the main killers of the people of Iran: 1- Trump 2- Netanyahu,” Larijani said in a post on X on Tuesday.
He was referring to the 12-day US-Israeli aggression against Iran in June 2025, which killed over a thousand Iranians across the country and damaged the country’s civilian, military, and nuclear infrastructure.
Iran has, over the past days, been the scene of highly violent riots exploiting concerns about the rising cost of living.
Authorities have acknowledged the legitimacy of economic grievances and vowed to address them, which are directly linked to unilateral US sanctions targeting Iran’s central bank and oil exports.
But they have vowed to deal decisively with US and Israel-backed rioters wreaking havoc across the country.
On Tuesday, a senior police official reported that at least 297 thugs involved in damaging public property and people’s assets have been detained.
