The Iranian girls’ goalball team has achieved a historic victory at the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, securing the gold medal for the first time in the tournament’s history.

Mojgan Karbi, the head coach of the Iranian youth goalball team, announced on Saturday that the win is dedicated to the martyrs of the 12-day war.

“For the first time in the history of the girls’ competition, we have achieved the championship title. In previous editions, we had reached the runner-up and third place, but this time we became champions with effort and empathy, which we dedicate to the martyrs of the 12-day war against our country,” she said.

Karbi further highlighted the team’s exceptional performance throughout the tournament, citing notable wins over Korea and Thailand in the preliminary rounds.

“In the final match, the players exerted all their efforts to secure the gold medal for the first time in the history of women’s goalball, a feat that was successfully accomplished,” she added.

Looking forward, Karbi expressed optimism for continued success, saying, “We aim to carry the momentum into the Nagoya Games by combining youth and adult teams to win more medals there as well.”

The team’s historic win represents not only a milestone for Iranian women in goalball but also a tribute to the nation’s resilience and dedication.
