Iran's response to Israeli aggression
Iran’s Ministry of Defense says the Iranian military dealt severe blows to Israel’s military capabilities during the regime’s 12-day aggression, forcing Tel Aviv to seek a halt to the fighting. The ministry’s spokesperson, Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik, says the Israeli military launched the aggression with the aim of destabilizing Iran and weakening its national sovereignty, but was forced to appeal for a ceasefire after suffering significant damage. The Iranian general cited Israel’s miscalculation of the war’s consequences, noting that extensive military, economic, and political damage was inflicted on the regime, which forced it to seek help from the United States. The Iranian general warned that while direct hostilities have ceased, the psychological and media warfare against Iran continues.
Iran slams Israeli plan
Iran’s foreign minister has warned that the Israeli premier’s comments on the so-called Greater Israel are a threat to international peace and security. In an opinion piece published in a Saudi newspaper, Abbas Araghchi said the proposal pose an existential threat to the entire region and will affect such countries as Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. According to Araghchi, the comments are a blatant violation of international law and the UN charter. He said Israel is clearly and openly declaring a strategy to violate the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of regional countries. The foreign minister said the dangerous remarks expose the aggressive intentions of Israel to dominate the entire Islamic world. Iran’s top diplomat further stressed that any delusion regarding and trust in such deceptive plans as the US-backed Abraham Accords will culminate in damage to the Islamic world.
Australia pro-Palestine rallies
Tens of thousands of protesters are marching across Australia in one of the largest rallies in solidarity with Palestinians as Israel continues its genocidal war in the Gaza Strip. Carrying placards with pro-Palestine signs, marchers are demanding sanctions on Israel and an end to Australia’s arms trade with the regime. The demonstrations, which are taking place in around 40 cities and towns, are expected to be the largest pro-Palestine rallies in Australia’s history. The protests come days after the United Nations confirmed famine in parts of Gaza for the first time due to Israel’s months of restrictions on entry of humanitarian aid into the region.
