Israel Gaza takeover plan
The Israeli Minister for militray affairs has approved the military's plan to occupy Gaza City. To implement this operation, Israel Katz called up around 60,000 reservists. He also indicated that around one million Palestinian civilians are expected to be displaced from Gaza City to the southern part of the Strip. The plan to capture Gaza City has faced international backlash. Even many of Israel's allies have already condemned the plan. The UN and aid organisations have warned that another offensive and further mass displacement will have a horrific humanitarian impact.
Resistance retaliation
The Gaza-based Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas has released a statement saying it has launched a new raid against newly established Israeli positions in the southern Gaza Strip. The statement said the fighters stormed an Israeli site in Khan Yunis and targeted several tanks. They also struck several houses where Israeli soldiers were taking cover. A number of fighters stormed the houses and engaged Israeli troops at point-blank range. The fighters additionally sniped the commander of an Israeli tank, killing him. On arrival of Israeli rescue forces, one of the Qassam fighters carried out an operation, inflicting further casualties on regime’s troops, the statement added.
Talks on Ukraine war
Russia has dismissed efforts to address Ukraine’s security concerns without Moscow’s involvement, calling such attempts a “road to nowhere.” Russian Foreign Minister said Moscow cannot accept the notion that security matters, particularly collective security, can be resolved without the participation of the Russian Federation. Lavrov’s comments came just two days after US President Donald Trump hosted Ukraine’s president and several European leaders to explore potential security guarantees aimed at ending the war. This came as Trump announced that no US troop will be deployed in Ukraine, but Washington may provide air support and facilitate EU boots on Ukrainian soil.
