Iran-IAEA relations

Iran's foreign minister says a new framework must be formulated for Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, before any new inspections of the country’s nuclear sites. Speaking in a live interview, Abbas Araghchi said following the US-Israeli aggression against Iran's nuclear facilities, relations between Iran and the IAEA have changed. He stressed that the nuclear agency must have a specific protocol for inspecting nuclear facilities that have been attacked, but such a protocol does not exist yet, because military attacks on nuclear sites are unprecedented. Araghchi noted that the Iranian parliament has also passed a law making inspection of Iran's nuclear sites conditional on the approval of the Supreme National Security Council. Therefore, Iran and the IAEA must first negotiate a new framework based on the Iranian parliament’s law and the realities on the ground, before any inspection could be possible. He added that Iran and the Agency are currently negotiating this issue, but it will take some time before a final agreement is achieved.

US-Israeli Gaza genocide

Israeli forces press ahead with their genocidal war across the Gaza Strip, killing and injuring more civilians in indiscriminate air and artillery strikes. One of the latest attacks killed two Palestinians and wounded two others after a tent was hit in the al-Rimal neighborhood, west of Gaza City. Another Palestinian died after Israeli forces opened fire on security personnel and aid seekers east of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza. According to medical sources, more than 50 civilians were killed and over eight-hundred others injured within 24 hours. The Health Ministry also reported four deaths due to malnutrition on Thursday, increasing the total number of victims of famine and malnutrition to 239, including 106 children. Israeli forces also killed twenty-two starving aid seekers in a single day, raising the number of aid seekers killed so far to nearly 1,900. The death toll from the Israeli genocide since October 2023 has risen to nearly 61,780, with more than 154,900 injured.

Rejecting resistance disarmament

Hamas has strongly rejected the Palestinian Authority's latest call for disarmament. The movement says the resistance and its weapons are a national right, which will not be given up as long as the occupation persists. Hamas was reacting to recent remarks by the Palestinian Authority’s Foreign Minister, Varsen Aghabekian. The movement expressed surprise that such remarks were made at a time that the fascist regime presses ahead with its savage genocide in Gaza. It stressed that such ‘regrettable’ statements do not serve the national interests of the Palestinian nation. Hamas noted that disarmament would only be possible after the full restoration of the Palestinian people’s rights, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital. The movement reiterated that the future of Palestine will only be determined by its people, not by the occupying regime and its dictates.
