Israel car ramming operation
A car ramming attack in the occupied territories has left nine Israelis injured, with two in critical condition. The assailant targeted a group of people near a bus stop. The wounded include Israeli soldiers. The suspect has fled the scene. Israeli forces have set up roadblocks to detain the assailant. Hamas has hailed the anti-Israeli operation, saying that it is the natural response to the crimes of the occupation, from the desecration of holy sites to the genocide and starvation in Gaza. It says the attack reaffirms that resistance stands strong and it will continue until the freedom of the occupied territories.
Gaza famine
The international charity Save the Children has sounded the alarm over mass starvation in Gaza, as Israel presses ahead with its genocidal campaign and blockade of the territory. Alexandra Saieh warned that children and families are suffering both physically and emotionally. The aid group warned that things could get worse if Israel does not lift the siege. More than 100 other aid groups, including Doctors Without Borders and Oxfam, also echoed the warning over the soaring levels of acute malnutrition, especially among children and the elderly. The NGOs called for decisive action to be taken, demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire. According to Gaza's media office, at least 115 Palestinians, including over 80 children, have died of starvation since October 2023. It says the actual number of fatalities is much higher.
Boycotting Israel
The Colombian president has called for a halt to coal exports to Israel, saying it is used to make bombs targeting civilians in Gaza. Gustavo Petro has also urged Switzerland to shut down the operations of the multinational Glencore company, which transports Colombian coal to the occupied territories. Petro made the remarks during a summit of the Latin American energy bloc, CELAC, in Bogota. He urged mine workers and local residents to block the paths of companies exporting Colombian coal, should they persist in their operations. Colombia has severed diplomatic ties with the Israeli regime to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. Last year, Bogota officially suspended coal exports to the occupied territories over Tel Aviv’s ongoing genocide, imposing a ban on such shipments from Colombia. Despite this, US coal miner Drummond and Swiss-based Glencore have continued their operations.
