US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The Israeli war machine continues its genocidal campaign in Gaza, with fresh strikes targeting starving Palestinians across the strip, leaving dozens dead and wounded. At least 12 Palestinians were killed, and 40 others injured in an Israeli drone attack on tents housing displaced Palestinians in al-Mawasi camp in the south of the Gaza Strip. Al-Mawasi has been designated as a so-called “safe zone” by the Israeli forces, but it has been routinely targeted throughout the war on Gaza. Earlier on Friday, another major attack on a house in Jabalia in the north of Gaza left at least 35 dead. Medical sources in Gaza confirm that around fifty people were killed in Israeli attacks on Friday, which marked Eid al-Adha in the strip. Palestinians’ death toll since October 2023 has now surpassed 54,600, mostly women and children.

Gaza aid 'militarized'

The international charity Save the Children has slammed Israel and the US for what it called the militarization of aid in Gaza. Save the Children says it is unthinkable that civilians, struggling against famine, would be killed while seeking food. That’s a reference to Israel opening fire at Palestinians en route to food distribution sites. The charity says the US-Israel-backed distribution organization is killing even more people. The NGO also says the chaos resulting from barring aid into Gaza and handling of the scarce resources is jeopardizing the lives of more than a million children, amid international silence. Save the Children says Israel continues to block essential supplies sent by the NGO to Gaza. It is calling for a definitive ceasefire and full humanitarian access, condemning Israel for killing time to prevent both.

Iran's nuclear program

Iran’s foreign minister says the country seeks to foil Israeli plots and build confidence around its nuclear program through dialogue and diplomacy. In an interview, Abbas Araghchi reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program is exclusively peaceful and poses no threat to any country, but Israel has dozens of nuclear warheads. He said Iran does not seek nuclear weapons because of a fatwa or religious decree by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, banning such arms. The top Iranian diplomat said the country will submit its response to the recent US proposal in a few days. He said Oman, which is mediating the indirect talks with the US, will then determine the time and venue of the next round. Araghchi stressed that Iran’s response will be in line with its core principles and the nation’s interests.
