Eid Al-Adha celebrations
Millions of Muslims in Iran and across the world are celebrating Eid al-Adha or the feast of sacrifice, as Hajj pilgrims conclude the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. In Iran, people performed the Eid prayers in various cities including the capital Tehran. Muslims in Indonesia marked the occasion with prayers as well. Thousands of Palestinians also attended the Eid prayers outside the Al-Aqsa mosque in the occupied al-Quds. People in the war-ravaged Gaza also observed the Eid, despite the ongoing US-Israeli genocide. Eid al-Adha is one of the most important events on the Muslim calendar. It is to commemorate Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his only son, Ismail, upon the God’s command. Muslims also sacrifice livestock, visit their relatives and friends to commemorate the occasion.
Gaza humanitarian crisis
The United Nations has warned of a sharp rise in acute malnutrition among young children in Gaza. UN reports say that over 2,700 Palestinian kids under five have been diagnosed with acute malnutrition. The percentage has almost tripled compared to three months ago. According to the World Food Program’s latest market monitor, food consumption and dietary diversity in Gaza collapsed to critical levels in May.
Slamming Israel Lebanon attacks
Iran has strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on the Lebanese capital on the eve of Eid al-Adha as a clear violation of the Arab country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei referred to Israel’s repeated acts of aggression against Lebanon amid the silence and inaction of the United Nations Security Council. He also pointed to the direct responsibilities of so-called guarantors of a ceasefire deal, namely the US and France. Baqaei said, the Zionist regime cannot continue its blatant violations of the UN Charter and International law without the green light as well as overt and covert support of the US. He called for a meaningful action by the UN Security Council, noting that the Israeli aggression indicates the need for the regional countries to strengthen their defense capabilities and honor resistance.
