Imam Khomeini passing anniversary

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution says a significant decline in US standing and the emergence of a multi-polar world are key aspects of Imam Khomeini's lasting legacy that keeps influencing the world. Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks on the occasion of the 36th passing anniversary of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini. Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that despite numerous conspiracies aimed at destabilizing the Islamic Republic, Iran has consistently strengthened its capabilities, particularly in defense and nuclear sectors, and gained independence. Regarding the ongoing Tehran-Washington nuclear talks, Ayatollah Khamenei criticized US attempts to limit Iran's uranium enrichment capacity, saying that such restrictions would render the nuclear industry ineffective for the country.

US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The US-Israeli genocide in Gaza continues unabated. In one of the latest strikes, Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians waiting to receive humanitarian aid near Gaza City. The attack happened on the Netzarim corridor, west of Gaza City. There are no immediate reports of casualties yet. Other Israeli attacks were also deadly. At least seven people, including children, were killed and many others injured after the bombing of a camp sheltering displaced Palestinians off the coast of Gaza City. A similar strike left over half a dozen people dead in the densely populated al-Rimal neighborhood of the city. The Israeli bombing of a cellphone charging station in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City killed a father and his son. To the south, an Israeli airstrike targeting an area south of Khan Yunis killed several civilians. The US-Israeli genocide has claimed the lives of over 54,500 people, leaving nearly 125,000 others injured.

Trump's trade war

The United States has officially doubled tariffs on imported steel and aluminum; a move that could heighten tensions with its key economic partners. Effective from Wednesday, levies on both metals have risen from 25 percent to 50 percent, with President Donald Trump citing the measure as essential for protecting domestic industries. However, imports from the UK will remain at 25 percent as both governments negotiate trade terms. The European Union has strongly criticized the decision, warning it undermines ongoing diplomatic efforts to reach a resolution with Washington. The tariff hike follows Trump’s decision to impose duties on most US imports from April 2, which set a 10 percent rate for many nations while applying higher tariffs on key economic powers, particularly China.
