President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Iran and Iraq, characterizing the emotional and spiritual bonds between the two nations as the foundation of their long-standing relationship.
"These robust and historical relations have remained stable until today and will remain stable hereafter," the president stated in a Tehran meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Sunday.
Pezeshkian noted that since the beginning of his administration, his efforts have been focused on enhancing interactions in economic, political, scientific, and cultural fields.
He cited the meeting of border province governors as a constructive initiative for regional synergy.
"The cooperation projects between the two countries are being implemented with seriousness."
Touching on regional developments, the president addressed the “destructive and destabilizing “ role of the US and the Zionist regime in the region aimed at sowing divisions among Muslim nations, and noted that despite political and economic pressures aimed at disrupting regional stability, Iran’s approach remains centered on unity and de-escalation.

Regarding recent terrorist riots in Iran, which damaged public property in several cities and left scores of security personnel martyred.
The president described the terror acts as a "joint project of America and the Zionist regime,” exploiting the economic conditions they imposed on the Iranian nation.
“Just as the Zionist regime recognizes no limits in committing crimes, its agents also escalated violence and brutality to the highest level during the recent events,” Pezeshkian said, referring to Mossad support for the terrorists in Iran.
"The actions of the US president in supporting the rioters clearly revealed the nature of this conspiracy and sedition,” he added, pointing to open support for the terrorists offered by Donald Trump.
The President concluded his remarks by emphasizing the importance of Islamic unity.
"Naturally, if we, the Islamic Ummah, stand together and with each other, no power will have the ability to threaten us."
“Harming Iran’s security unacceptable”
Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein conveyed the greetings of Iraq’s president and prime minister, affirming that Baghdad has monitored recent events in Iran with close attention.
He emphasized that the security of the two nations is inextricably linked.
"We consider Iran's security to be our own security, and indeed the security of the region, and any harm to it is unacceptable," the foreign minister stated.
Hussein also reflected on the enduring nature of the bilateral relationship.
"The two countries of Iran and Iraq possess a deep history, and throughout history, many have come and gone, but the two nations of Iran and Iraq remain standing."
Earlier in the day, Hussein sat down for talks with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani.
Araghchi told a joint presser following their meeting that the two governments are working on a strategic cooperation agreement to further expand bilateral ties.
