Gaza children slaughtered
At least 36 people, half of them children, have been killed in an Israeli attack on a Gaza school shelter. Following the disturbing footage of a young girl walking by herself through flames, her survival has brought some hope to rescuers. Ward Jalal Al-Sheikh Khalil is the sole survivor of her family. At least 18 children were killed in Israel’s attack on the "Fahmi Al-Jarjawi" school, in Gaza city’s Al-Daraj neighborhood. Medical sources say many of the victims were completely burned in the fire, while dozens more were injured or trapped under the rubble. In another attack, the Israeli military targeted a nearby tent camp, killing six members of a family. Around 50 Palestinians have been killed by the regime forces in 24 hours. According to Gaza officials, the death toll from the US-Israeli genocide since October 2023 is approaching 54,000, with nearly 123,000 others injured.
Gaza ceasefire proposal
Hamas has agreed to a proposal by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, which calls for a 70-day ceasefire and the release of 10 Israeli captives in two phases. The proposal also includes ongoing negotiations for a permanent ceasefire. Meanwhile, some reports indicate that the Israeli regime has rejected the proposal. According to Israeli media, a senior official has said that Hamas is setting conditions that “mean a complete failure to meet the war goals”. Israel ended a three-phase ceasefire agreement in March, following two months of truce during which Hamas committed itself to the ceasefire conditions. The regime then refused to proceed to the second phase and resumed its assault on Gaza. Since then, Israel has continued its genocidal war, pushing the death toll in Gaza to nearly 54,000.
Iran-Pakistan relations
In a joint presser in Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have emphasized regional peace, with Iran officially welcoming efforts to establish ceasefire between Pakistan and India. President Pezeshkian stressed that Iran and Pakistan share common views on regional, Muslim world issues and international matters. He said both nations are committed to expanding political, economic, cultural, and international cooperation with renewed focus on fully implementing agreements already reached. Pezeshkian condemned the ongoing atrocities by Israel and denounced the silence and support of Western countries. He called on all Muslim nations to unite in full support of the oppressed people in Gaza. For his part, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif voiced full support for Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy. Sharif described the high-level talks as constructive, focusing on expanding economic ties and reviving historical and cultural bonds. He also condemned the killing of over 50,000 civilians in Gaza, urging the international community to push for a lasting ceasefire. The Pakistani Prime Minister reiterated his country’s commitment to peaceful dialogue with India on key issues including Kashmir, water, and terrorism while affirming Pakistan’s readiness to defend itself if needed.
