"No threats in talks"

The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council says negotiations under equal conditions, free from threats and coercion, are wise and honorable. Ali Akbar Ahmadian was alluding to the ongoing indirect talks between Iran and the United States. Speaking at a gathering of IRGC commanders in Tehran, Ahmadian noted that Iran's red lines are clearly defined yet the outcome of the discussions is not predictable. He emphasized that the result of the negotiations depends on the behavior of the United States. Iran and the United States have so far conducted three rounds of negotiations. The next round of talks has been postponed upon the suggestion of Oman. The talks seek a replacement for the 2015 nuclear deal, which was derailed by Washington's unilateral, and unjustified scrapping of the agreement called JCPOA in 2018.
