Iran's Kiani makes history, cruises into taekwondo finals at Paris Olympics

Nahid Kiani trounced her Lebanese opponent Laetitia Aoun 2-0 in semifinals of taekwondo women's 57kg at Paris Olympics to cruise into finals, guaranteeing another medal for Iran.

Kiani clinched a last-second victory in the first round against Kimia Alizadeh, the Iranian taekwondo player representing Bulgaria.

In the quarterfinals, Kiani went up against Tunisia's Chaima Toumi and secured a hard-fought win over three rounds, advancing with a 2-1 result.

She took the first round 5-2, dropped the second 3-0, but bounced back to claim the decisive third round 3-2.
