Netanyahu selling illusions: Hamas official

Izzat al-Rishq, member of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas’ Political Bureau

A senior Hamas official scoffs at recent remarks made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the potential of sending the Gaza Strip-based resistance movement’s leaders into exile.

Izzat al-Rishq, who is a member of Hamas’ Political Bureau, made the remarks on Monday after Netanyahu talked about “guaranteeing evacuation of the movement's leaders out of Gaza and their exile.”

“Netanyahu is selling illusions, reaffirming that he still lives in his dreams of achieving an alleged victory that will never materialize,” Rishq said.

The Israeli premier has claimed that he seeks to continue a genocidal war that the regime has been waging against the coastal sliver since October 7 until “victory.”

The regime has, however, failed to achieve any of its objectives, including defeating the resistance and displacing Gaza’s entire population to neighboring Egypt. Nor has the regime managed to enable the release of those who were taken captive during Gazan resistance groups’ Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, following which Tel Aviv launched the war.

“He (Netanyahu) has not achieved any of his aggressive goals, other than committing more horrific massacres against unarmed civilians,” Rishq said, referring to the war’s killing of over 35,000 Palestinians so far.

The Israeli official’s statements, the Hamas’ figure noted, also highlight the fear of the rising global support for the Palestinian people's cause of liberation from Israeli occupation and aggression and the legitimacy of their rights.

“Our resistance writes epics of heroism on all combat axes on the land of Gaza on a daily basis,” the Hamas’ official added, asserting that the resistance “knows neither defeat nor surrender.”
