US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Gaza is witnessing an endless cycle of bloodshed as the Israeli regime takes no pause in its air and artillery strikes on the besieged Palestinian territory. Several areas of the southern city of Rafah have come under fresh bombardments. One of them took place in the Al-Salam neighborhood, killing 9 Palestinians, including a child. Seven other Gazans lost their lives in another aerial attack on the Yabna refugee camp. The Israeli military also struck a school belonging to the UNRWA in the Nuseirat camp in Central Gaza, which caused a number of casualties. Since October 7, 2023, around 34,700 people have been killed in the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza. Women and children make up the majority of those killed. The death toll is in addition to more than 78,000 Gazans who have been injured.

Call for Israel sanctions

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has strongly denounced the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, urging its members to impose sanctions on the regime. The 57-member OIC adopted an anti-Israeli resolution at the end of its 15th summit in the Gambian capital Banjul. The resolution asked the member states to use their political, diplomatic and legal influence to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine. The organization urged its members to stop selling or facilitating transfer of arms and ammunition, which the Israeli regime is using in its genocide against Palestinians. It also called for a permanent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza as well as the flow of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory. Last year, the OIC supported a genocide case filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

Pro-Palestine campus protests

Iran’s president describes as disastrous the crackdown on pro-Palestinian protests at Western universities, saying the clampdown has exposed the true face of Western civilization.  Ebrahim Raeisi said, freedom of expression and human rights have been violated on US campuses and some other universities in the West. He noted that Western governments have always hidden their tyrannical and anti-human rights face behind their deceptive slogans. Raeisi added that the recent crackdown on anti-Israel protests proved the falsehood of the West’s claim about supporting human rights and freedom. Referring to the situation in Gaza, the Iranian president said the US-Israeli genocide has unmasked the real face of the West. Raeisi underlined that the West witnesses that pro-Palestine academia is now pitted against the evil acts of violating human rights and freedom.
