Majority of Americans support halting flow of US arms to Israel: Poll
The majority of Americans support blocking arms shipments to Israel until the current campaign of death and destruction by the occupying regime ends, a new poll says.
The poll, conducted by the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) think tank between February 27 and March 1, suggested that more than 50 percent of Americans want the administration of US President Joe Biden to stop sending arms to Israel.
“Fifty-two percent of Americans agree that the US government should halt weapons shipments to Israel until Israel stops its attacks on Gaza,” the economic policy think tank said in a statement, citing a new YouGov poll it commissioned.
According to the results released on Tuesday, 62 percent of respondents who voted for Biden in 2020 wanted Washington to halt weapon support to Israel until the brutal war comes to an end.
The statement of the poll by the Washington-based think tank was “The US should stop weapons shipments to Israel until Israel discontinues its attacks on the people of Gaza”, to which only 14 percent of Biden voters disagreed.
“By contrast, only 30 percent of Trump voters support halting US weapons shipments, while a majority (55 percent) oppose, and another 15 percent say they are unsure,” CEPR added.

Israel has killed more than 30,600 Palestinians and injured at least 72,000 in Gaza since October7, 2023.
The regime ignited its bloody war machine after it was caught off-guard by Operation Al-Aqsa Storm conducted by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas on that October day.
Over the past five months, some 85 percent of the Gaza population has been internally displaced due to acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine.
According to media reports, Washington has provided 21,000 precision-guided munitions to Israel since October. Other types of munitions and weapons include tens of thousands of 155mm artillery shells, thousands of bunker-buster munitions and 200 kamikaze drones.
Despite causing a massive death toll and suffering fatalities, the Israeli military has failed to achieve the set goals such as “destroying” Hamas, finding the captives the Gaza-based resistance movement is holding, and bringing about forced displacement of the Palestinian territory’s population to neighboring Egypt.
