Iran anti-terrorism stance

The Iranian foreign minister has stressed that the Islamic Republic fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries, but does not compromise its own national security. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the announcement in a televised panel discussion on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. He said Iran’s Tuesday drone and missile strike targeted anti-Iran Jaish al-Adl terrorist outfit which is hiding in some parts of Pakistan. He added that the operation came in response to the groups’ recent deadly attacks on Iran, particularly in the southeastern border city of Rask. The top Iranian diplomat also touched upon the IRGC’s latest attack on Israel’s Mossad base in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. He said Tehran had shared intelligence with Iraq regarding the Israeli agency’s espionage activities. Amir Abdollahian also stressed the importance of maritime security in the Red Sea amid simmering tensions over the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza. He advised Washington change its hostile approach, stressing that the only way to prevent further escalation in West Asia is for the US-Israeli ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza to come to an end.

Gaza genocide claims more lives

In the Gaza Strip over 100 days of relentless Israeli bombardments have reduced the war-ridden strip to rubble and claimed the lives of many innocent women and children. Israel has stepped up strikes in the south, killing at least ten people including two children in the cities of Rafah and Khan Yunis. Attacks on a Gaza neighborhood have also killed over two dozen people and left dozens more injured. At least 160 people have been killed across Gaza in the past day, bringing the death toll since October the 7th to nearly 24,500. In the meantime, Palestinian resistance fighters have confronted the invading troopers in different parts of Gaza. The military wing of Hamas, the Qassam Brigades, says its fighters have destroyed a number of Israeli armored vehicles and military installations using multiple rockets. Several gatherings of Israeli soldiers have also been struck, killing and injuring a number of them.

Future "bleak" for Gaza kids

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees warns of bleak post-war future for Palestinians in the Gaza strip. UNRWA chief, Philippe Lazzarini gave the warning following his fourth visit to to the Palestinian territories since the outbreak of the war on October 7. He said the majority of the 2.5 million residents of the besieged strip have been displaced and 60 percent of the buildings completely destroyed. He added hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza are now living in the streets and makeshift tents. The UNRWA chief also expressed concerns over what he called the brutal living conditions of Palestinian children. Lazzarini said there is growing fear over the emergence of a generation of lost kids in Gaza who are deeply traumatized by war.
