Nothing justifies more than 20,000 dead: Pro-Palestine protesters say in Lyon

Protesters gathered at the French city of Lyon's Bellecour Plaza on Saturday for a pro-Palestine rally, calling for an end to the Israeli regime's genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The demonstration was organized by the association called Collective 69 in support of the Palestinian people, which has already organized similar rallies in the city.

“Today we wanted to show in the heart of Lyon, at Place Bellecour, to the people of Lyon, the reality that they are missing in their TV, because most of the media are not showing the raw reality of what’s happening these days in Gaza,” said one of the protesters.

Another protester said, "Nothing justifies more than 20,000 dead [from Israeli attacks in Gaza], if I got the figures right, and the destruction of the Palestinian state and its people. Horror in capital letters."

"We have a feeling of injustice. It’s unfair to kill women and children who have nothing to see with this war. They are civilians. We are very sad, but what else can we do?“ said another protester.

The Palestinian Health Ministry issued a statement on Saturday saying the total death toll from Israel's brutal onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip has reached 20,258, mostly women and children, with 53,688 people injured.
