Russian forces have hit a Ukrainian military command post in the eastern Donetsk region of Krasnoarmeysk, also known as Pokrovsk.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense said that its missiles had struck the military command post in the eastern town of Krasnoarmeysk.

"Near the settlement of Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk People's Republic, an advanced command post of the Khortytsya joint group of Ukrainian troops was hit," Russia's MoD announced on Tuesday.

Ukrainian officials confirmed that two Russian missiles had struck a hotel and apartments in the town, killing and wounding about a dozen members of Kiev’s military forces, among others.

Russia's MoD said on Tuesday that about 210 Kiev military forces were killed in the Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours. In addition, Russian armed forces repelled 18 attacks by Kiev troops in the Donetsk direction over the given period, the ministry said in a statement.

"Up to 210 military personnel, one tank, four infantry fighting vehicles, six pickup trucks and three D-30 howitzers were destroyed [in the Donetsk direction]," the statement read.

Russia repelled nine counterattacks by Ukraine forces in the Kupiansk direction, MoD said, adding that Kiev has lost up to 110 troops, three vehicles, as well as two D-20 howitzers.

Three attacks by Kiev troops were repulsed in the Krasnyi Lyman direction, where Ukraine has lost 80 soldiers.

Russia has repelled three attacks and Kiev has lost 125 troops, eight armored vehicles and two howitzers in the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Ministry said.

Ukrainian troops were defeated in preemptive measures in the Zaporozhye direction, where Kiev has lost up to 110 troops, one tank, and five armored vehicles, among other military equipment pieces, MoD stated.

Also on Monday, Russian artillery fire targeting military positions in the evacuated town of Kherson, killed one person and wounded four others.

Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said Kherson had endured a “tough night” as the Russians “covered the central part of the city with fire”.

One person was also killed and four others wounded in the Russian shelling of a village in the northeastern Kharkiv province, Governor Oleh Syniehubov said.

In the meantime, world officials from about 40 countries gathered in Saudi Arabia to work on a peace settlement for the war in Ukraine.

However, Russia’s foreign ministry on Monday denounced the two-day talks in Jeddah as not having “the slightest added value” because Moscow had not been invited to the event.

The Russian foreign ministry reiterated previous assurances that Moscow is open to a diplomatic solution, on its terms, that would end the 17-month-old war and that it is ready to respond to serious proposals.

Earlier, Russia's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, had indicated that a "sustainable" peace effort would be possible only after the "Kiev regime ceased its hostilities" and the US-led Western allies stopped the eastward encroachment and ceased their military build-up on Russian borders.

In similar remarks, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said the event in Saudi Arabia cannot bring positive results, because Russia was not participating in it.

"I would like to understand how it is possible to discuss issues related to Russia's security without accounting for our national interests. Is it really still not clear to someone that it is impossible to achieve a specific result in such a situation?" Antonov said.

He said there were no prospects of any diplomatic success in the Jeddah talks. "We have witnessed yet another unsuccessful attempt of wishful thinking by the US Administration. There was no diplomatic success in Jeddah. Washington tried to show a beautiful picture of US support from the 'Global South' states in an effort to isolate Russia. To win over the countries that do not support the 'rules-based order.'

"Hence the rather expected result of the meeting - the lack of a common position on how to move forward in resolving the crisis in Ukraine. There was no support for Kiev's notorious 'peace formula' at all," he said.

Antonov's remarks come as a Moscow source told Sputnik that the majority of the participants attached to the meeting in Saudi Arabia were from Western countries which arm Kiev. "The vast majority of participants are Western countries, directors of the Ukrainian crisis, arms suppliers and escalators. You don't have to look far for conclusions," the source said.

"According to media reports, at the meeting on Ukraine in Jeddah, the countries of the Global South were in the minority. Out of about 40 participants, there were about 15 [from the Global South], and 4 or 5 joined via a video link. Russia was not invited," the source said.

Some of the countries that proposed mediation and humanitarian initiatives in the past "were forgotten" at the meeting, the source added.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov blasted the event as an attempt by the US, UK and their allies to pull as many nations into pompous summits to discuss Ukraine's peace formula. "The Anglo-Saxons and their allies have stood up for the Nazis of Kiev, glossing over, if not justifying, their actions that violate human rights and the rights of national minorities.

"Instead of a serious conversation based on recognizing the evolution of the real situation 'on the ground' over the past ten years they convene staged forums with the sole purpose of luring as many countries as possible into any semblance of a discussion of the 'Zelensky’s formula,' which demands nothing less than that Russia completely capitulate, agree to compromise its security and leave millions of Russians to the mercy of fate."

Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine On February 24, 2022, aiming to liberate the Donbas region where the People's Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev's forces.

In the meantime, the collective West continues to flood Kiev with weapons while slapping economic sanctions on Moscow.

Till now, the sanction against Russia has backfired.

Meantime, Washington approved the shipment of the first batch of Abrams tanks to Kiev, US media reported, citing US Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Douglas Bush.

Earlier, the Pentagon had announced that the US Army had awarded General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) an almost $34 million contract extension to provide technical support for Abrams Main Battle Tanks, including those furnished to Ukraine.

"Now they have to get to Europe, and then to Ukraine, along with all of the things that go with them. Ammunition, spare parts, fuel equipment, repair facilities. So you know, it's not just the tanks, it's the full package that goes with it," a media outlet quoted the official as saying.

US media reported last month that the first batch of tanks that the Biden administration transferred to Ukraine would include no more than eight combat vehicles. In total, Washington intends to send Kiev 31 older Abrams tanks, namely M1A1 models.

So far, Washington and its allies have provided more than $65 billion worth of weapons and munitions to the Kiev regime, including Abrams and Leopard main battle tanks, artillery and armored vehicles, Storm Shadow long-range cruise and other missiles, air defense systems, and have also committed to providing F-16 fighter jets as well as pilot training to operate the aircraft.

However, Ukraine's armed forces have experienced significant casualties and equipment losses in the two months since the commencement of their self-proclaimed counteroffensive in June.

Russia's MoD said that Ukrainian armed forces have lost over 43,000 troops and approximately 5,000 pieces of equipment.

“Enemy equipment losses on the frontline amounted to more than 4,900 pieces, including 26 aircraft, nine helicopters, 1,831 tanks, and armored fighting vehicles, 25 German 'Leopard' tanks, seven French AMX wheeled tanks, and 21 US-made 'Bradley' infantry fighting vehicles,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
