Russia Wagner revolt

An "anti-terrorist operation regime" remains in place in the Russian capital, Moscow, after the Wagner paramilitary group aborted its revolt. The anti-terrorist regime was introduced in Moscow on Saturday, as Wagner’s forces advanced on the capital. Moscow authorities also said that a day off work introduced to curb movement around the city on Monday would remain in place for security reasons. However, all restrictions imposed on highways in Russia have been lifted. In Rostov-on-Don, the situation around the headquarters of Russia's Southern Military District is reportedly calm and street traffic has resumed. The Wagner group left the city late on Saturday after a Belarusian-mediated agreement with Moscow to halt a rebellion against Russia's military establishment.

Greece election

People in Greece are going to the polling stations for the second time in a little more than a month to elect a new parliament. The New Democracy party headed by former Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis won the general elections last month, 20 points clear of the leftist Syriza party. But he called new elections before stepping down in a bid to govern Greece alone. Without a majority in the 300-seat parliament, Mitsotakis says he cannot form the stable government. His main opponent is former prime minister Alexis Tsipras. Sunday's election has been largely focused on the cost of living, with inflation and low wages hitting households hard.

Hajj pilgrimage

The annual Hajj rituals have begun in Saudi Arabia where large numbers of Muslim pilgrims from around the world are going through the days-long rites. On the first day of the rituals, the pilgrims are performing the first circumabulation of the Kaaba, the holiest Muslim site. Pilgrims conduct a series of rites over four days in the city of Mecca and its surroundings. Over two million pilgrims from across the globe are attending the annual rituals this year. The hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and must be undertaken by every able-bodied Muslim with the means to do it, at least once in their lifetime.
