Israel West Bank drone strike
An Israeli drone strike has killed at least three Palestinians in the West Bank amid simmering tensions in the occupied territory. The Israeli military said the strike targeted a vehicle carrying the Palestinians in the West Bank city of Jenin. The regime claimed that the Palestinians were responsible for an earlier anti-Israeli operation near the town of Jalamah. The drone attack was the first of its kind since 2005. Palestinian resistance movements have reacted to the attack. Hamas branded the assault as "an assassination crime", saying it is a grave escalation that will not go unpunished. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine also vowed to respond to the aggression. The drone strike came only hours after Israeli settlers went on a rampage in the northern West Bank. They attacked Palestinian towns, torching cars, buildings and fields under the protection of the Israeli army.
Ukraine Crimea attack
Kiev has conducted a missile attack on a bridge connecting Russian-controlled Crimea to the flashpoint areas in southern Ukraine. That’s according to Russian-appointed officials in the region. The governor of Kherson says the attack happened overnight, causing some damage to the bridge but no human casualties. It comes just days after Russia’s defense ministry said Kiev is planning to attack Crimea with Western-provided weapons and warned that Moscow would retaliate. The attack on Chongar Bridge or the so-called gate to Crimea also comes as Ukraine is struggling to push its long-awaited counteroffensive to retake areas from Russian forces. Earlier Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that his country’s advances have been slowed, saying the people shouldn’t expect a "Hollywood movie out of the situation".
Sudan fighting
The Sudanese capital has been the scene of intense fighting after a fragile 72-hour ceasefire between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces ended on Wednesday. Reports say the fighting started in Khartoum and nearby cities even before the truce could end. A fire also engulfed the intelligence service's headquarters on Tuesday evening. Like previous instances, the two sides accused each other of breaching the latest round of ceasefire brokered by the United States and Saudi Arabia. Mediators had warned that they would consider adjourning peace talks between the warring sides in the Saudi city of Jeddah if the truce was not respected. More than two months of fighting has left thousands dead and over two and a half million displaced. Clashes broke out over the proposed integration of the paramilitary force into the regular army.
