Ukraine-Russia war 

Russian forces have repelled attempts by Ukrainian troops to break through the frontline in the southern region of Zaporizhzhia. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Ukraine used its mechanized brigade with 1,500 men and 150 armored vehicles. He said Russia inflicted "heavy losses" on Ukraine’s forces. Shoigu said Kiev’s operation had been monitored from the onset by the Russian reconnaissance forces. Shoigu said Ukraine had lost 'thirty tanks, eleven armored infantry vehicles and up to 350 soldiers'. Independent sources have not verified the figures provided by the Russian defense minister. 

Iran defense capabilities 

Iran has rejected as interventionist the statements by some western countries regarding a new hypersonic missile the Islamic Republic unveiled recently.The foreign ministry spokesman said Iran's missile program is conventional and completely legitimate based on International law. Naser Kan’ani described the country's missile capabilities as effective deterrent against foreign threats and a means to defend its national security. He said the countries accusing Iran have a long record of violating their international obligations. The spokesman cited a security pact between the US, the UK and Australia known as AUKUS, saying its aim to transfer highly enriched uranium to a non-nuclear country is a direct violation of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Under the deal, Washington and London will assist Canberra acquire nuclear powered submarines. Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps unveiled a home-grown hypersonic missile dubbed Fattah on Tuesday.

Pakitan politics 

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been granted bail one month after his three-day detention. One of his lawyers said the bail is valid till the nineteenth of June. It has to do with eight cases against him under the anti-terrorism legislation. Khan also sees bail extension in nine other cases. The former prime minister of Pakistan is facing over 150 cases registered against him since he was ousted in April 2022. He has already appeared at two courts in Islamabad. The government accuses Khan of inciting violence. He denies the charges. Khan says the government is making excuses to arrest him and outlaw his party. The government has stepped up crackdown on Khan’s allies and supporters. Thousands of people have already been arrested in connection with the crackdown. The government says it will 'tighten the noose of law' around those involved in violence.
