Plots by hegemonic powers

Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the hegemonic powers will not end their hostility toward Iran, if it retreats. Ayatollah Khamenei says the enemy wants to take Iran back to its pre-revolution era. He says last year’s riots in the country were planned and instigated by Western countries’ think tanks and intelligence agencies. According to the leader, they provided financial, military and media support. Ayatollah Khamenei added that the enemies planned the riots because they thought Iran will be defeated but they, again, failed to realize the reality about the Iranian nation. He said the enemy also seeks to frustrate Iranians by magnifying problems. However, the leader said people should keep up their hope and stay vigilant against such plots. He made the comment on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the passing away of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic.

Israel protest

Demonstrations continue for the 22nd consecutive week in Tel Aviv, as Israelis stage weekly mass-protests against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's controversial plan to reform the judicial system. Israeli media said nearly a 100,000 people gathered in Tel Aviv alone for Saturday's protest. There were also demos in other cities as well. The protesters were holding banners against the bitterly contested plan, with some saying "The judicial overhaul is an existential threat." In March, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had announced a pause to allow for talks on the reforms. However, protesters say they will continue with their demonstrations, and will not allow the laws to be passed on the sly. Opponents of the plan believe it would open the way to a more authoritarian regime.

Sudan fighting

Sudan’s paramilitary fighters make new gains in the capital Khartum as fighting intensifies between warring sides following the collapse of truce talks. Fighters loyal to Rapid Support Forces took control of the capital’s national museum. The museum is near the central bank in an area where some of the fiercest fighting has taken place. Witnesses also reported artillery fire in eastern Khartoum and around state television building. There have been several ceasefire attempts so far, but none have successfully held. Fighting between regular army and RSF forces have entered its seventh week now. The conflict has displaced 1.2 million people inside Sudan and forced nearly 400,000 others to flee to neighboring countries.
