Israeli atrocities

Hundreds of Palestinians take part in the funeral procession for three young men, who were killed by Israeli forces nearly two months ago. Israeli forces shot dead the three Palestinians in the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank on March the 12th. But the regime refused to release their bodies to their families. The Israeli military frequently withholds bodies of resistance groups’ members to pressure their relatives. The regime has also stepped up attacks across the occupied territories over the past months. More than 100 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank, so far this year.

Racial discrimination in US

Another protest is held in the US over the death of black man Jordan Neely, who was killed by a white former marine in New York. The protesters chanted justice for Jordan as they gathered outside the Manhattan District Attorney's Office on Friday. They called Neely’s death an act of lynching, likening it to the murder of George Floyd by white officers in 2020. Neely, a mentally ill homeless man, died on Monday. A video circulating on social media shows a former marine holding him in a chokehold before he faints and later dies in a hospital. The New York medical examiner has called his death a homicide. However, the Manhattan district attorney has refrained from announcing any charges against the marine, involved in his death.

End of pandemic

A significant step toward the end of Covid-19 Pandemic; the World Health Organization has declared that the illness no longer represents a global health emergency. The WHO director general, however, warned that removing the highest level of alert does not mean that the danger posed by the coronavirus is over. He said the emergency status could be reinstated if the situation changes. The UN body first declared that COVID represented its highest level of alert in January 2020. The first large-scale vaccination began in December, the same year. The process of vaccine development was followed by a grim period of hoarding and nationalism. As the pandemic was wreaking havoc around the world, people in many industrialized countries received second and third doses of the vaccine, while only a small percentage of population in poorer countries had been vaccinated.
