A night worth more than 1000 months; Laylatol Qadr, also referred to as the Night of Destiny or the Night of Glory, is of great significance for Muslims worldwide.

In Iran, millions have gathered in mosques and holy shrines the hold a vigil and pray for mercy and forgiveness.

In Imam Reza's holy shrine in the northeastern city of Mashhad, more than two million people gathered to hold the traditional Laylatol Qadr vigil and pray into the late hours of the night.

Muslims believe that on this night, the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and according to the Holy Quran praying on this night is better than a thousand months of prayers.

The exact date of Laylatol Qadr is uncertain and Shia Muslims hold special vigils and pray on the nights before the 19th, the 21st, and the 23rd of the Holy month of Ramadan- the 9th month on the Islamic calendar.

Laylatol Qaqr is one of the most blessed nights on the Islamic calendar. Muslims worldwide spend Laylatol Qadr worshipping and praying for forgiveness as they believe on this night Allah's mercy is abundant.
