Two Palestinians have been killed in a shooting attack by Israeli forces near the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

UK doctors in strike

In the UK, tens of thousands of junior doctors have once again staged a strike over pay and working conditions, creating new headache for the country’s health services. Junior doctors, who make up around half of the National Health Service staff, are asking for a 35 percent pay rise. However, Health Secretary Steve Barclay says their pay demand is unrealistic. The N-H-S has warned that the four-day industrial action is the most disruptive in its history and will have a catastrophic impact on its services. According to officials, up to 350-thousand appointments and operations are likely to be cancelled due to the walkout. The UK has seen a wave of strikes across various public sectors since last summer, with workers demanding inflation-matching pay rises. The country's inflation hit a 40-year high of more than 11-percent in October.

UN Afghanistan operations

The United Nations says it is reviewing its presence in Afghanistan. The announcement comes after the Taliban authorities barred Afghan women from working for the world body last week. The U-N mission in Afghanistan said the restrictive measures, which violate international law, have forced it into making this appalling choice. It said it has initiated an operational review period to decide whether to continue its operations in the country. The Taliban imposed a slew of restrictions on Afghan women after it seized power in 20-21. Last year, many NGOs suspended their activities in the country after a ban on women staff.
