Despite Afghanistan being described by the UN as the world's largest & most severe humanitarian crisis, the World Food Programme has announced it's cutting down aid to four million people in the country. Considering the current economic situation in Afghanistan, experts have expressed concerns over the impact of humanitarian aid being reduced.

The WFP has warned that the aid shortfall could push Afghans into famine. Now that aid to 4 million people has been cut, at least a large part of the nation is now one step closer to famine. This is while there are still millions of people in Afghanistan who haven’t received any humanitarian aid at all.

This April, the WFP cut off assistance to 4 million aid recipients in the country, decreasing the number from 13 million to 9 million. They have stated that this reduction is due to severe funding constraints. People here are wondering why international donors show less attention to Afghanistan at this critical period.

Considering the fact that Afghanistan is the world's worst humanitarian crisis, experts say if this trend of international aid being cut down continues, people might face famine in the near future.
