Iranians take part in nationwide rallies to commemorate the ‘9th of Dey epic’

On December 30, 2009, nationwide pro-establishment rallies in Iran put an end to foreign-backed post-election riots. Every year on this day, people turn out in different cities, particularly the capital Tehran, to commemorate what they describe as the “epic” rallies that dealt the final blow to all who were instigating riots in the country.
Thousands took to the streets on Thursday to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the 2009 nationwide rallies while also renewing their allegiance to the Islamic establishment.
The demonstrators also denounced any acts of violence by foreign-backed rioters against the Islamic Republic.
A statement at the end of the rallies declared that the people of Iran would not tolerate any acts of sabotage that would jeopardize the security and territorial integrity of the country.
The occasion, dubbed the “9th of Dey epic”, refers to the huge demonstrations held in Tehran and other cities across Iran on the ninth of the Persian Calendar month of Dey, which falls on December 30, in support of the Islamic Republic.
The rallies, more than anything, are a show of solidarity and support for the Leader of Iran’s Islamic revolution Ayatollah Khamenei. The support of a nation that is as vigilant as it was in 2009.
