During the recent unrest in Iran, local officials have often mentioned two words, 'hybrid warfare' allegedly conducted by the US and its allies.

These Hybrid methods of warfare have consisted of propaganda, deception, sabotage and guerrilla military tactics. Of course, these methods have long been used to destabilize adversaries. What is new about them seen in recent events is their speed, scale and intensity, facilitated by rapid technological support and global interconnectivity.

Additionally, there is a high degree of concentration on an aspect called cognitive warfare. In cognitive warfare, the human mind becomes the battlefield. The aim is to change not only what people think, but how they think and act. Conducted successfully, it shapes and manipulates individual and group beliefs and behaviors to favor an instigator's tactical or strategic schemes.
