Argentina beat Netherlands 4-3 on penalties to reach semi-finals

Argentina’s dream of clinching the first World Cup since 1986 remains alive after overcoming the Netherlands in a penalty shootout to seal their place in the semi-finals in Qatar.

Argentina beat Netherlands 4-3 on penalties in the quarter-finals of the World Cup at the Lusail Stadium. The match went to penalties after the Netherlands fought back from two goals down to level at 2-2 in the last minute of normal time.

However, Emi Martinez saved two penalties as Argentina won the shootout 4-3 to set up a semi-final showdown against Croatia who beat Brazil, also on penalties.
