On the Path of the Storm: Images from Hurricane Ian’s wake

Hurricane Ian pummeled Florida earlier this week, leaving a trail of destruction that may prove to be unprecedented in the state’s climate history.

Ian flooded areas on both sides of Florida’s coasts. More than 2 million people are without power, and sometimes home, in its wake.

According to the disaster modeling firm Karen Clark & Company, Ian may have caused “well over $100 billion” in damage, including $63 billion in privately insured losses.

At least 17 people have been killed so far.
