40-meter superyacht sinks off Italian coast

A 40-meter superyacht sank on Saturday (August 20) in the Gulf of Squillace, about 9 nautical miles off the coast of Catanzaro. The vessel, flying the Cayman Island flag but with an Italian crew, was sailing from Gallipoli to Milazzo.

The Crotone Coast Guard coordinated rescue efforts to save the people on board, but could not save the yacht. Video from the Coast Guard showed the yacht tilting and finally sinking.
