The Gaza-based Hamas and Islamic Jihad resistance movements have praised the path of resistance as the “strategic option” to confront Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the Tel Aviv regime’s acts of aggression, emphasizing that there is no turnaround in the stance.

The two movements, in a joint statement released following a high-level meeting of their leaders in Gaza City on Monday, said resistance is a strategic and unalterable approach for them, and underlined that coordination between the two groups is at its pinnacle.

“We warn the [Israeli] enemy against our nation’s courageous resistance in the face of its potential treachery. Our response to such a folly will be decisive and comprehensive,” the statement read.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements also commended the formation of the Joint Operations Room as a national achievement, and stressed that Palestinian resistance groups will all work together in order to strengthen its role and position and attain full liberation of occupied Palestinian territories.

“On the 53rd anniversary of an arson attack on al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist Australian tourist Denis Michael Rohan in 1969, we reiterate that al-Quds forms the basis of the conflict with the Israeli enemy, the mosque was the first Qibla for Muslim combatants and revolutionaries, and that the Sword of al-Quds will not be sheathed until the entire Palestinian territories are liberated and Palestinian refugees return home,” they pointed out.

The joint statement added, “We urge the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority to stop persecution and detention of resistance fighters and to release political prisoners as soon as possible, end security cooperation with the Zionist enemy, abandon the disastrous Oslo Accords, and exercise comprehensive and inclusive resistance in a real and practical manner.”

“We underline the need for stronger unity among Palestinians through formation of a new national council, which would include all Palestinian compatriots and expatriates. We will, therefore, continue our joint efforts to establish a national framework,” Hamas and Islamic Jihad said.

“We call upon resistance fighters and their supporters to become more united and join forces to serve the Palestinian nation and the resistance front.

“We appreciate all Muslim and Arab nations as well as the freedom-loving people of the world who supported us during the recent Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip. We assure them that the Palestinian resistance bloc is firmly united, is capable of imposing new equations on the enemy, and can deal with it in a unified manner,” the statement noted.
