On Tuesday, the Lebanese parliament voted to re-elect Nabih Berri as the speaker of the house. Despite the number of objections which reflect a divided parliament, Berri said in his first speech that his priority is to focus on the needs of the people of Lebanon.

New and independent members of the parliament told PressTV that the people’s sufferings need to be a priority.

Hezbollah members of the parliament believe Lebanese people need to see tangible solutions to the current crises.

The next challenge for the parliament is the designation of a new Prime Minister.

With today’s vote the layout of the new parliament will have been finalized. However, with a parliament strictly divided between pro-resistance and anti-resistance groups it could be difficult to agree on basic socio-economic matters.
