Iran’s president calls for mass turnout on pro-Palestine Quds Day rallies

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raeisi has called on Muslims around the world to participate in the International Quds Day rallies due on Friday.
Raeisi made the call during a friendly Ramadan Iftar dinner with envoys from different embassies of Muslim countries in Iran.
The event comes on the eve of the International Quds Day, a pro-Palestine rally that takes place every year on the last Friday of the month of Ramadan.
Raeisi called on Muslim nations to come out en masse in support of Palestinians.
This year’s Quds day will be marked as Muslims are infuriated by Israel’s fresh bout of raids on Palestinian worshipers at the al-Aqsa mosque compound.
The regime has pressed ahead with its violence in the flashpoint site and has been cracking down on solidarity protests throughout the occupied West Bank.
Diplomats, here in Tehran, slammed the Israeli violence and deplored certain Arab leaders’ silence on the issue.
The International Quds Day was first introduced in 1979 by the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, who called on all Muslims to hold pro-Palestine rallies on the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Over the past two years, Quds rallies were called off due to the coronavirus pandemic. This will be the first time in two years that the occasion is marked with physical participation.
More than four decades since Iran introduced the Quds day, the occasion has turned into a global pro-Palestine rally with even Jews around the world participating to vent their anger at the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
Now the Iranian president once again renewed his call for a mass turnout in the Quds rallies, saying this is the only way to bring the Palestinian suffering to light.
