Australian Open: Nadal reaches final, upsets Berrettini 4-1 in semis

Rafael Nadal marched into the final and is just one match away from becoming the all-time men's Grand Slam leader after overcoming Matteo Berrettini 4-1.

Nadal who is level on 20 majors with his rivals Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer, dominated the match in the opening set after taking it 6-3. Nadal kept up his momentum in the 2nd set as he eased past his 25-year old Italian opponent 6-2. But, Berrettini managed to snap Nadal’s dominance after finishing the 3rd set 6-3 in his favor.

However, the Spanish great used his experience to find his rhythm to grab the 4th set 6-3 to wrap up the match in 2 hours and 55 minutes. Standing between Nadal and his historic achievement will be the winner of the other semi-final between Russian Daniil Medvedev and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.
