Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says the Islamic Republic is firmly determined to bolster relations with all African countries, particularly Togo.

In a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, Amir-Abdollahian and Togo’s Foreign Minister Robert Dussey discussed various issues of common interests at bilateral, regional and international levels.

The Iranian foreign minister said exchanges of visits by the two countries’ officials play a key role in developing mutual relations.

He outlined Iran’s achievements in various fields as well as the capabilities of Iranian companies in economic, scientific, technological and health sectors, voicing the country’s readiness to cooperate with Togo in all the areas.

Dussey, for his part, said his country is keen to expand relations with Iran, particularly in trade and economic areas.

The Togolese foreign minister invited Iranian companies to take part in his country's development projects in the fields of education, health and energy.

Amir-Abdollahian and Dussey agreed to set up joint working committees, discuss possible ways to open embassies in Tehran and Lome and exchange trade delegations.

The foreign minister of Togo invited his Iranian counterpart to make a visit to Lome, which was accepted by the Iranian side.

Dussey is on an official visit to Tehran at the head of a delegation. On Monday, he held a meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi.

In the meeting, Raeisi said development of all-out relations with African countries is among top foreign policy priorities of the Islamic Republic.

He added that under the new Iranian administration, Iran would pursue the development of economic, trade, and political relations with African countries with renewed strength.
