Sudan rally 

In Sudan, thousands of demonstrators are rallying in the capital Khartoum to protest against the military coup and demand a civilian rule. The demonstrators are converging on the presidential palace in the capital. They are also marching on the streets of Madani, a town south of Khartoum. Security forces there are firing tear gas to disperse the protesters. Sudan’s military leadership has deployed forces across the capital Khartoum ahead of mass protests. Authorities also cut the internet and telephone lines. The African country has witnessed protests since the military takeover on October 25 and the arrest of civilian leaders. The rallies are staged despite the re-instatement of Prime Minister Abdulla Hamdok who was ousted in the coup. Dozens of people have been killed and scores wounded since then.

Saudi war on Yemen 

The Yemeni army says it has struck vital and sensitive Saudi sites in retaliation for escalating attacks against the impoverished country. Army spokesman says Saudi positions in the port city of Jizan were targeted with three state-of-the-art precision-guided missiles. Yahya Sare’e promised more painful operations as long as Saudi Arabia continues its crimes and aggression against Yemen. Saudi Arabia says 2 people were killed in the attack, adding that it is preparing for a large-scale military operation. The kingdom and its allies launched a war on Yemen in March 2015, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians and causing a dire humanitarian situation.

Anger at anti-Muslim threats 

Police in India have opened an investigation after videos from a religious gathering emerged on social media showing priests advocating ethnic cleansing of Muslims. The police say they will take strict action against those who fanned the flame of hatred in the city of Haridwar.
