Israeli military forces have shot and killed a Palestinian man amid tensions over the regime’s settlement expansion plans and forced expulsion of Palestinian families from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East al-Quds.

WAFA, also known as the Palestine News Agency, citing witnesses, said Israeli troops fatally shot a young man and injured another on Friday morning after opening fire at a passenger car in the Arab-majority city of Umm al-Fahm, 20 kilometres (12 miles) northwest of Jenin.

Identified as Fathi Mohammed Fathi Jabrin, the victim succumbed to his wounds on the spot, the report noted. The other man was detained by the Israeli regime forces in an injured state for interrogation.

The Israeli police, meanwhile, said in a statement that the two border police officers were injured in a car-ramming attack in Umm al-Fahm.

It claimed that one of the officers was in a light-to-moderate condition, while the second was mildly hurt.

The development came hours after gunfire was reported in the Aghbariya neighborhood of Umm al-Fahm, and multiple buildings were set aflame in response to the murder of a 33-year-old man there on Thursday.

Israel forces reportedly arrested six Umm al-Fahm residents in connection with protests in the city.

Mohammed Hamza Burgel, 30, was shot to death while driving his car. Another man, a passenger in the car, was critically injured in the shooting and was rushed to hospital.

Burgel reportedly lost control of the vehicle after he was shot and hit a truck that was passing on the road.

Israeli troops have on numerous occasions been caught on camera brutally killing Palestinians, with the videos going viral online and sparking international outcry.

The Tel Aviv regime has been criticized for its extensive use of lethal force against Palestinians as well as their extrajudicial killings.
