Battle for Ma'rib

The Yemeni Army and its allied Ansarullah forces are moving closer to fully liberating Ma'rib province from Saudi-backed mercenaries. Local sources say the army is in control of three regions in the Jubah district, some 50 kilometers south of the provincial capital, Ma’rib. The province is the last stronghold of militants affiliated with former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who are supported by Riyadh. The Yemeni army has vowed to continue it operation until full liberation of the country.

Iran-P4+1 talks

Tehran says the upcoming Vienna talks with the remaining parties to the 2015 nuclear deal will result in an agreement if the US changes course and renounces all sanctions on Iran. The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman says the current US administration’s conduct has so far been at odds with its claims of seeking to rejoin the deal. Khatibzadeh says Iran has heard enough promises and is now awaiting actions. He stressed that it was the US that left the deal in tatters by abandoning it and the Europeans also failed to abide by their commitments. Khatibzadeh also called upon the US leaders to drop their veiled military threats against Iran and said Iran will not compromise on its national security.

UN climate change conference

The UN secretary general urges leaders at the COP-26 climate Change summit to act to save humanity, saying humans are digging their own graves. Antonio Guterres made the warning in his opening speech during the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference in Glasgow, Scotland. He said with the countries' existing climate pledges, the world is still moving toward a Catastrophe. The UN chief also highlighted the responsibility of major economies in this regard as they account for almost 80 percent of the world’s carbon emissions. Guterres made the remarks one day after criticizing G-20 countries for not doing enough in advancing climate goals. On Sunday, the G-20 meeting in Rome wrapped up without a commitment to a 2050 deadline to achieve net-zero emissions.
