Biden reaffirms America’s ‘ironclad bond’ with Israeli regime

US President Joe Biden has reaffirmed America’s “ironclad bond” with Israel, which has committed numerous war crimes against Palestinians with the help of the United States.

In a statement celebrating Rosh Hashanah, which is the Jewish New Year, Biden on Sunday also urged Americans to speak out against antisemitism, which is hostility to or prejudice against Jewish people. But the Israeli regime uses antisemitism as a pretext to silence the people who criticize its crimes.  

“Rosh Hashanah is a reaffirmation that we are each endowed, by virtue of our Creator and our common humanity, with the ability to bridge the gap between the world we see and the world we seek. In that effort, we’ve made significant progress, but much work remains,” Biden said in a statement.

Rosh Hashanah is a two-day celebration that begins on Monday evening and ends on Wednesday evening.

“To protect ourselves and each other against a once-in-a-century virus. To rebuild an economy that provides opportunity for all Americans. To give hate no safe harbor, and speak out with clarity and conviction against antisemitism wherever and however it manifests. To reaffirm our ironclad bond with the State of Israel,” he added.

Biden called for the year 5782 to be a year of “health, healing, and progress.” The US president and first lady Jill Biden extended warm wishes to those celebrating Rosh Hashanah.

Biden has reaffirmed Washington’s “ironclad bond” with Israel despite the fact that the regime in Tel Aviv has oppressed the people of Palestine and occupied their lands.  

The Tel Aviv regime launched the aggression against the besieged Palestinian territory, Gaza Strip, on May 10, following Palestinian retaliation against violent raids on worshipers at al-Aqsa Mosque and the regime’s plans to force a number of Palestinian families out of their homes at the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem al-Quds.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, nearly 260 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli offensive, including 66 children, while some 2,000 others were wounded.

The Biden administration has defended Israel’s blatant cruelty at every international forum and blamed the victims.

More than 70 US Democratic lawmakers have called on Biden to reverse the Trump administration's "abandonment of longstanding, bipartisan US policy" regarding the Israeli regime’s occupation of Palestine. But he has not paid attention to their requests.

In a recent letter sent to the White House, 73 House Democrats urged the Biden administration to formally abandon former US President Donald Trump’s so-called “deal of the century” plan, which has widely been described as deliberately devised to favor the Israeli regime’s policies and wider interests throughout the Middle East.

Israel is the largest cumulative recipient of US foreign assistance since World War II. America's military assistance to Israel has amounted to tens of billions of dollars since it began in 1962.
