Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei thanks the country’s Paralympians for their scintillating performance in Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympic Games.

“I express cordial gratitude towards the proud Paralympics’ team that delighted the Iranian nation once again by earning medals,” Ayatollah Khamenei wrote in a message on Saturday.

Iran fielded a 62-strong squad of Paralympian athletes in the games. The participants came 12th concerning the number of medals among 4,403 contestants after snatching 12 golds, 11 silvers, and one bronze.

President Ebrahim Raeisi also felicitated the athletes, saying their performance manifested realization of the “we can” slogan.

The triumphs, he added, showed that the “stalwart youths of this homeland overcome whatever obstacle and shortcoming under the auspices of their diligence and strong will.”
