Afghan president says remobilizing the country's national security forces is a top priority, adding, consultations are ongoing to end the war across Afghanistan.

Cities come under Taliban's control one after another as the militant group has now taken control of about two thirds provinces.

In a fresh advance by Taliban, the militants captured 4 eastern and southeastern provinces of Kunar ,Paktika, Logar and Paktia on Saturday .

In such circumstances, Afghanistan's president, in a televised message to the nation, called for strengthening the Afghan national security forces. He also noted that his government is working hard to end the war in the country

President Ghani also said, he fully accepts his responsibility to lead Afghans and their country to peace and stability.

So far, hundreds of thousands of Afghans have been displaced with women and children making up the majority of them. Nonprofit groups are grappling with how to help the women and girls left in the country.

Reports say more locals will possibly be prompted to leave the country due to expanding war and violence. Therefore, some prominent political leaders urge Afghanistan’s neighboring countries’ mainly to keep its border open for a possible wave of Afghan refugees.

In the meantime, the Afghan government has offered a power sharing proposal to the Taliban ,a move that is not welcomed by the militants, saying that Afghan president Ashraf Ghani must agree on establishing a transitional government in order to avoid any possible civil war in the country that will of course take more civilian lives .

Earlier the UN Secretary-General called on the Taliban to halt their offensive in Afghanistan, where he said the situation was “spinning out of control.”
