Marcell Jacobs wins 100-m Olympic gold to take the 'world's fastest man' title

Lamont Marcell Jacobs of Italy has become the 1st Olympic 100-meter champion, in the post-Usain Bolt era.

The Italian, who had no experience racing in the finals of a major championship, made a good start and managed to clock 9.80 seconds, finishing ahead of Fred Kerley of the USA, and Canada’s Andre De Grasse, who picked up the silver and bronze medals respectively. It’s the first time since Athens 2004, that A New 100 meters Olympic champion is crowned, following the retirement of Usain Bolt. The Jamaican legend, won the 100 meters gold three successive times, in Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro, as well as 3 straight 200-meters crowns.
