Former US President Donald J. Trump has lambasted the recent spike in crime, linking it to immigration into the United States.

The Republican leader, whose voice Democrats had hoped would fade away after his 2020 loss, released a statement to highlight the sharp spike in US crime rates.

“Crime in our Country is escalating at a pace we’ve never seen before. At the same time, people are pouring through our Borders totally unchecked,” he said.

The recent spike in the number of shootings has become a source of concern for many.

In the latest reports of shootings, at least four people were shot outside of the Washington Nationals stadium on Saturday.

Just a day earlier, another DC shooting left a six-year-old girl dead and five adults injured.

The billionaire businessman further suggested that the reason for the rise in crime is the influx of migrants from the southern border with Mexico.

“Jails in other countries are being emptied out into the United States," he said. "This is far worse than anyone thought during the Fake Election!"

Before assuming office in 2016, Trump had vowed to build a wall on the border, a plan that barely materialized.
