'Removal of Israel closer than ever'
The secretary general of Lebanon’s Resistance Movement Hezbollah says the US hegemony is the most dangerous threat facing West Asia. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said the US seeks to expand it hegemony in the region to continue its support for Israel. He noted that the removal of the Israeli regime and the liberation of occupied Jerusalem al-Quds is closer than ever today. The Hezbollah chief also reacted to Washington’s latest strikes inside Iraq and Syria, condemning the US military presence in Iraq as mere occupation. Nasrallah also denounced the US seizure of dozens of websites belonging to regional resistance groups. He said the US and its allies are afraid of these news outlets because they contributed directly to victories gained by the axis of resistance. Nasrallah said resistance media can help thwart the enemy’s propaganda war in the region.
US Iraq base attacked
The US-led military coalition in Iraq says an airbase hosting American forces in the country’s west has come under a rocket attack. The coalition says at least three rockets landed at Ain al-Asad airbase in Anbar province. It says the attack left no injuries but caused material damage to the base. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. US bases and their supply convoys in Iraq have come under increasing attacks amid growing tensions over the continued American military presence in the county. Anti-US sentiments in Iraq escalated following the US assassination of top Iranian General, Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis near Baghdad Airport in January 2020. The move promoted Iraqi lawmakers to vote for the expulsion of US forces from the country.
