Families of prisoners and their advocates staged a sit-in inside the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the blockaded Gaza Strip. They denounced inhumane treatment of thousands of Palestinian political prisoners incarcerated in Israeli jails.

They also expressed their support of Palestinians on hunger strike in Israeli jails, including Ghazanfar Utwan who has been refusing food for more than fifty days.

Palestinian detainees suffer from inhumane treatment and are being denied basic rights.

The Israeli regime has also barred some prisoner families from visiting their loved ones in a blatant violation of international law.

Many Palestinian prisoners are sick and suffer from medical negligence amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. Statistics show that over two hundred and twenty Palestinians have died in Israeli prisons due to medical negligence.

Statistics show that Israeli forces have arrested nearly one million Palestinians since 1967. Palestinian prisoners are being held in twenty four Israeli prisons and detention centers under inhumane conditions.

Observers say that the protection Israel enjoys from the United States and some Arab countries in the Persian Gulf region gives it the green light to continue to violate the rights of Palestinians.

According to prisoners’ advocacy groups, there are thousands of Palestinian prisoners languishing in Israeli prisons and detention centers under inhumane conditions.
