Saudi Arabia has proposed what it calls a peace initiative to end the six-year-old war in Yemen. The offer includes a nationwide ceasefire and conditioned reopening of Sana'a airport and Hodeidah port on the Red Sea coast.

Yemenis declined the offer and called for an end to the war and a siege imposed by Saudi Arabia on their country. Yemenis demanded the release of impounded oil tankers as the first real step toward peace.

Moreover, the Ansarullah movement said bargaining over the humanitarian situation for military gains is a crime and there will be no negotiations before the war is stopped and the aerial and maritime siege is lifted.

The Saudi initiative comes amid the Yemeni army's escalation of retaliatory attacks against Saudi facilities and its continued advancement toward the city of Marib, the last stronghold of Saudi-backed forces in northern Yemen.

Yemenis say Riyadh has to release their oil tankers to prove its good intentions in order to move toward with a political solution, otherwise, the Yemeni army will press ahead with its operations against Saudi targets.
