Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), says it has not declared war against Ethiopia, affirming that no decision has been issued in this connection.

It was announced by a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in a press conference. Al-Faki Suleiman described what is happening in the eastern borders as redeployment of the Sudanese Armed Forces inside the Sudanese territories.

He confirmed that the decision of the recapture of the Sudanese territories is a political decision, not military one, describing the statements issued by the Ethiopian side on the developments on the Sudan eastern borders as imbalanced.

Earlier this month Ethiopia accused Sudanese forces of pushing further into a contested border region that has been the site of deadly clashes in recent weeks, warning that its “peaceful” approach to the dispute “has its limit”. Earlier Chairman of the National Border Commission,. Maaz Tango blamed Ethiopia of violating its commitments.

In response, the Ethiopian ambassador in Khartoum Yibeltal Aemero accused the Sudanese military of taking advantage of the war in the Tigray region to seize disputed land calling on Sudan’s to immediate correct such things . More than 50,000 Ethiopians recently fled the war in the Tigray region for refugee camps in eastern Sudan. The Sudanese government has moved many of them away from the border, citing the security situation.

So far, International efforts have failed to bring peace to the region as UN agencies say they are unable to access certain areas due to military conflicts between the two sides. Sudan has said it is not after war with Ethiopia, adding, however, it will not allow its neighbor to impose a fait accompli policy regarding the disputed border points between the two sides.
