Lewis Hamilton has topped the second practice session for Formula 1's 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix, while Red Bull’s Alex Albon crashed heavily.

The world champion blitzed his way to the fastest time of 1 minute 28.971 seconds beneath the lights at the Bahrain International Circuit.

That put Hamilton on top of the timesheets, 3-tenths clear of Max Verstappen, with Valtteri Bottas ending up 3rd just 0.018 second down on the Dutchman.

That’s while the session was red flagged for 10 minutes as Verstappen’s teammate Albon drifted wide through the final corner and went off into the barriers, which seriously damaged his car, but thankfully the driver survived the wreckage unharmed.
